After looking at the latest earnings and daily charts of Tesla and Meta, I think these two companies are facing very different challenges.

Both are investing in the future, but the financial picture behind that growth matters just as much.

Tesla ($TSLA): The recovery needs to prove itself

Tesla reported $28.05B in Q3 revenue, roughly flat year over year. Operating income fell 56% to $718M, leaving its operating margin at 2.6%.

Free cash flow came in at $1.53B, which is encouraging. Tesla also lowered its 2026 capital expenditure outlook from over $25B to over $20B.

Still, the big question is whether Robotaxi, AI, and Optimus can eventually become meaningful sources of profit.

Looking at the daily chart, TSLA is trading around $375. The $350–355 area is the support I'm watching, while $389–390 is the immediate resistance. A sustained break above resistance could strengthen the recovery, but rejection here may keep the stock range-bound.

Meta ($META): Strong revenue, rising investment costs

Meta generated $64.6B in Q3 revenue, up 26% year over year. Its advertising business continues to deliver strong growth.

Reported operating income was $12.99B, significantly affected by a $9.89B legal charge. Excluding that charge, operating income would have been $22.88B.

However, free cash flow turned negative at $2.12B as investment demands increased. Meta now needs to show that its AI spending can generate sustainable returns.

On the daily chart, META is trading around $649 after a sharp sell-off. The $640–645 area is the near-term support to watch. If it fails to hold, $600 could become relevant. On the upside, $765–775 remains a major resistance zone.

My takeaway

Meta has the stronger revenue engine today, while Tesla's investment case relies more heavily on future execution.

I wouldn't judge either company on earnings headlines alone. For Tesla, improving margins will be important. For Meta, the balance between AI spending and future returns deserves close attention.

Both have ambitious plans, but the real test is how much value those investments ultimately create for shareholders.

If I had to choose what to watch next, I'd focus on profitability for Tesla and AI investment returns for Meta.
