Stock splits often look like a sudden increase in the number of shares. For example, during a split of four for one, one old share becomes four new ones, and the price of each at the time of adjustment should be approximately four times lower. The split itself does not create additional economic value.
In bStocks, a corporate event is reflected through the Multiplier mechanism. It changes the effective balance that the user sees, without the need to send new tokens to the address. A reverse split works in the opposite direction: the effective number of units decreases, and the calculated price per unit increases proportionally.
As a result, the raw on-chain balance and the effective balance in the wallet may look different. To evaluate a position, the current Multiplier is important. The difference in the interface by itself does not prove a loss or profit.
Before a corporate event, you should check:
the official message from Binance or the issuer and the processing time;
whether trading, transfers, or conversion will be temporarily paused;
open orders and their validity after the unit amount changes;
effective balance and the Multiplier after the procedure is completed.
The market price after trading resumes may continue to move. Therefore, a technical adjustment of units is not a guarantee of unchanged portfolio value.
