Don’t chase IOST—NFP is the one worth keeping an eye on.
First, IOST. The 115% surge is indeed shocking, and the trading volume of 49 million looks impressive, but you should look closely—the price is only 0.001827. This price range itself is a death trap for small-cap coins. This kind of spike isn’t driven by any news catalyst—does IOST have any recent positive developments? No. It’s simply the market maker playing to the crowd, cutting those who rush in seeing “a double in one day.” I won’t open any long positions above 0.0018. On the other hand, placing a short stop-loss above 0.0019 is safer.
Next, NFP. A 65% drop is definitely brutal, but the situation is different. The trading volume is only 3.8 million, which suggests there’s no panic-selling liquidation; instead, it was主动出货—someone actively sold and drove it down. This kind of move usually involves large players exiting early, and there may be further downward momentum afterward. But it doesn’t necessarily mean it will end up going to zero. After oversold conditions, there could actually be a technical rebound.
BTC is still hovering above 78,000, and the funding rate is 0.0033—longs haven’t completely given up. In the short term, the market hasn’t turned bearish. These sudden swings in small coins are more like each coin fighting its own battle.
My current view: if small-cap coins are getting hammered, don’t rush to cut your position—there may be a rebound. If a small-cap coin is spiking like crazy, keep your hands off—that isn’t an opportunity; it’s a trap.
What do you think—how long can something like IOST’s pure pump last? Do the short sellers still have a chance?
