Kabosu is a real-life Shiba Inu dog whose meme became the symbol of Dogecoin (DOGE). In 2010, the puppy's owner, Atsuko Sato, photographed Kabosu for her blog. The photo went viral after it appeared under the name "doge" on the Reddit platform. This subsequently became the impetus for the creation of Dogecoin in 2013.

The NFT community Own the Doge and the PleasrDAO project, which acquired the rights to the image of the DOGE meme for $4 million in 2021, decided to erect a monument in Furusato Square in Sakura City, next to the place where Sato often walks his dog.

The money for the monument was collected by DOGE fans back in 2022. One day they want to install such a statue even on the Moon. One of the members of PleasrDAO under the pseudonym tridog told the publication that for more than two years they have been “taking DOGE to places it has never been, including Hollywood and space” - an NFT in honor of Dogecoin is sent to the moon under the SpaceX program.

The community is also planning interactive events to celebrate the monument's installation. Participants will be able to meet the hostess Kabosu and also receive various bonuses depending on their NFT ownership.

In April, it became known that Own the Doge and the PleasrDAO project had shot a “documentary” film about the meme cryptocurrency. DOGE fans have created and funded a feature-length film about the transformation of an abandoned Shiba Inu puppy into a Dogecoin symbol.
