Dutch crypto companies including Bitvavo and Coinmerce have won a partial legal victory in their fight against $2.3 million in fees imposed by Dutch regulators. A court in Rotterdam said the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) exceeded its powers by charging companies registration fees to combat money laundering. The court noted that under current cryptocurrency regulations, “it is not possible to legally charge crypto service providers for 2021 supervisory expenses.” The court's decision does not address 2020 fees, and a separate trial regarding 2022 fees continues.
