It feels like the volatility in the crypto market is almost gone now. We might as well have $MU , $SKHY , $SPCX , and the rest of the U.S. stocks.
Deribit’s DVOL (Deribit implied volatility index) is now down to around 35, while the early-year peak was 90.
That means the market expects that over the next 30 days, BTC is unlikely to change much.
The good news is that BTC is becoming more and more like a mature asset—its “digital gold” similarity score +1; The bad news is that the disagreement is so small. Usually, it’s not that everyone has figured things out—it’s that nobody’s interested anymore.
Let’s just treat it as the calm before the storm. After all, how long the horizontal lasts determines how tall the vertical will be—about where it will reach, well… 🫣 $BTC
Didn’t expect Bybit to be stolen $1.5 billion and still have follow-ups?
Bybit @Bybit_Official filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, suing North Korea. In the list of defendants are North Korea’s Reconnaissance General Bureau and also Lazarus.
More importantly, the court actually granted a preliminary injunction, freezing a batch of the stolen assets.
To be honest, I’ve always thought that after assets are stolen in the crypto world, it’s basically: issue a statement, trace on-chain activity, post a bounty, and then it all just fizzles out.
Didn’t expect Bybit to be this tough. Of course, it’s probably going to be difficult to recover the funds—North Korea won’t appear in court, and even if it’s ruled against them, no one will end up paying.
But it’s useful for retail investors, too: after an exchange gets hacked in the future, there’s now another route to seek legal recourse.

Fellow villager, don’t go! The village has issued money bars!
SK hynix, priced at 1.42 million won per share, distributes a cash dividend of 375 won per share. Converted to USD, that’s about $1,000 USD—$0.26 USD per share, 0.26 percent of the amount.
The good news is that the board approved 54.3 trillion won (US$384 million) to build two new factories and expand its chip business.
Korean people are really stingy—so you can skip this dividend. I just hope SK hynix can reach $2,000 as soon as possible, okay? 🫣
The first batch of SpaceX shares—1.115 billion shares, nearly $100 billion—that I’ve been thinking about for so long finally got cleared and landed. But at the close, it actually jumped 6.14%.
So is half of this bullish candle panic selling that got cashed out early, and the other half the shorts lifting their own sedan chair?
But there’s still more to grind through ahead: starting August 21, 3% will be unlocked every two weeks; the Q3 earnings still leave 13%, and Musk’s 46% won’t be required until June 2027.
This… $SPCX still has to go down in the long run. 🫡
📊 Gold $4,255|Crude Oil $78.09|DXY 99.94|Fear & Greed 38 (Fear)|BTC.D 58.84%|Total Market Cap $2.19T US stocks’ three major indexes closed lower across the board: the Dow fell -0.85% led by weakness from record highs, while the Nasdaq/S&P edged down slightly. An Iranian Hormuz attack pushed oil prices higher again, and inflation expectations rose.
🔑 Headlines · The Iran–Oman Hormuz shipping corridor reached a preliminary framework (a 2–4 month transition period); details have been revised repeatedly. Gold surged overnight as it priced in “downgrade + falling real interest rates” · The Fed held steady in July. Market pricing for a September rate hike fell from 100% to 64%. Tonight 21:30 (UTC+8), the US July Non-Farm Payrolls is the key · Only one day remains for the US Clarity Act Senate vote; Republicans need to clear a 60-vote threshold and it’s said that some are defecting
⚠️ Risk: Non-Farm data + repeated revisions to Hormuz details. Strong jobs → rate hike expectations in September return → short-term pressure on risk assets

Tonight, SpaceX @SpaceX’s first batch of 910 million shares that were unbanned is here. The float will expand from 640 million shares to 1.55 billion shares!
What’s interesting is that recently about 32.2% of the tradable shares were shorted, around $23 billion.
Forbes analysis: sooner or later, the shorts will have to buy back shares to close their positions. The unblocking gives them more stock they can borrow, allowing them to quietly retreat.
It’s time to sanction the short sellers, @elonmusk!
The first U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF has to shut down and be liquidated. Hashdex Bitcoin ETF ( code $DEFI ) stopped trading on August 17.
It manages assets of $14.7 million, compared with BlackRock’s IBIT, whose net assets are as high as $47.08 billion.
Its total management fee revenue for the quarter is $6,453—over a year, it comes to just over $25,000. In the U.S., that isn’t even enough to pay a fund manager’s salary.
Honestly, the fact that they launched it with this code doesn’t sound very lucky. DeFi? If you don’t go under, who will? 🤣
The Coldcard theft case has more follow-up, and this time it’s even more awkward.
A security team went through more than 390 open-source BTC repositories and uncovered 85 serious vulnerabilities.
I’ve always felt that the biggest problem with hardware wallets isn’t that they’re insecure—it’s that they give people a false sense of absolute security.
Everyone will say “not your keys, not your coins,” but few people say the second half: your keys may also have been generated by someone else.
Long before, Jeni had already thought that with AI being this powerful now, if we use it to scan the vulnerabilities in past DeFi projects, wouldn’t that be one sweep after another?
I’ll say this: over 60% of Web3.0 projects today have vulnerabilities—it just depends on who discovers them first.

Apple, to cut iPhone costs, approached ChangXin to reduce the price of LPDDR5X, but was directly rejected. According to reports from Korean media, ChangXin’s quote was even higher than Samsung and SK hynix.
The most skilled bargain-hunter in the world—when it comes to memory, can’t drive prices down anymore.

It also indirectly shows that this storage cycle hasn’t ended yet. Keep the music going, keep the dancing!

Two senators directly dragged $TRUMP to the SEC.
The letter says this thing is no different from a rug pull—insiders made a killing, and retail traders in total lost 3.8 billion.
It fell 98% from its peak. A million wallets—average loss of $3,800 per wallet.
As for that 3.8 billion loss by retail traders, honestly, when you’re going into a coin like this, everyone knows what you’re gambling on in your heart. At least, I got blocked early.
Yesterday they were still saying $SPCX $110, saying they would copy it out as a sign of respect; during the day it surged to $130. Once the earnings report came out, the stock went straight into a waterfall, and then—steadily and safely—it delivered everyone back up like a rocket, right back to recovery.
The data is actually good: revenue was 7.81 billion, doubling year over year. EPS loss was 0.09, which is way better than the expected loss of 0.26. EBITDA was 3.5 billion, beating expectations by 75%.
But the quarterly capital expenditures were 18.4 billion; the previous quarter was only 10.1 billion. That’s an 80% quarter-over-quarter increase. And 18.4 billion is 2.36 times that quarter’s revenue.
Meaning: earn 1 dollar and spend 2.4 dollars.
What’s interesting is that @SpaceX CFO said on the call that the money put into the AI part would break even in less than a year.
If it’s really that sweet, then how did the net loss of 500 million come about? 🤣
