On November 4, 2026, the results of the U.S. midterm elections became increasingly clear: Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate.
Markets initially fluctuated, but Bitcoin later rebounded from an intraday low of around $75,600, climbing back to near $80,000.
However, one class of assets has not kept pace with the rally.
Trump-related assets are being priced differently.
Official Trump (TRUMP) fell as much as about 17% in 24 hours, dropping from around $1.598 to near $1.303; World Liberty Financial’s WLFI fell more than 7%; and Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) plunged about 17% at one point during the session, hitting a record low.
On the same election night, why did Bitcoin rebound while Trump-related assets fell across the board?
One distinction worth noting: they may not be trading the same thing at all.
In January 2026, CZ discussed Meme coins on Binance Square:
A genuine Meme coin project needs to have “historical significance” and a “story behind it,” but only a very small number can truly hold value. The failure rate is over 90%.
That statement is especially easy to see in the case of the TRUMP coin.
The core narrative behind the TRUMP coin is not technological innovation, cash flow, or any independent demand for its use.
At its core, it is about Trump himself, and the political influence, public attention, and cultural symbolism he represents.
In other words, its “story” is itself part of how the asset is priced.
As the midterm elections reshape the balance of power in the U.S. Congress, the market is reassessing how much room Trump will have to advance policies and influence the political agenda.
These shifts in expectations may also ripple through tokens and stocks associated with Trump.
Of course, the election is not the only reason for the declines. Overall market sentiment, liquidity, and speculative positions built up beforehand may also affect prices.
But this market move did reveal an interesting contrast:
Bitcoin trades on macro liquidity, market risk appetite, and uncertainty;
the TRUMP coin, by contrast, trades more on the narrative premium attached to Trump as a political symbol.
When political expectations shift, the two assets can naturally give completely different answers.
This also prompts us to reconsider a question:
How much is the “story” behind a Meme coin really worth?
A compelling enough story can bring a token attention, traffic, and a premium.
But a story is not the same as value, and hype is not the same as long-term demand.
The story behind a Meme coin can be very valuable, but how long it lasts depends on whether the market is still willing to believe it.
On the same election night, two assets came to completely opposite conclusions.
In your view, does the core value of the TRUMP coin come from Trump's political influence, or from Meme culture itself?
