Don't rush to take a short position. There might be a pullback when it reaches the painted area. If a pullback occurs, I also want to take a long position; I couldn't enter a long trade right now. $BTC
WHEN MIGHT AN ON-CHAIN TRANSACTION BECOME NECESSARY?
Not every failed Lightning payment requires an on-chain Bitcoin transaction.
When both channel participants remain connected and the channel is operating normally, they can generally resolve HTLCs through Lightning channel messages.
However, if a channel is force-closed while an HTLC remains unresolved, the relevant HTLC conditions may need to be enforced through Bitcoin transactions.
For example, an HTLC timeout transaction may be used when the applicable expiry condition has been reached.
This is one reason Lightning channels are backed by Bitcoin’s base layer.
Lightning handles payments off-chain, but Bitcoin provides the underlying settlement and enforcement system. $BTC
Does anyone else see a double S-curve adoption dynamic with bitcoin? Technologies that have low friction to adoption tend to experience a classic S-curve adoption cycle. But because bitcoin is extremely disruptive and has high resistance in the form of incumbents being extremely slow to integrate with it or outright banning it, that means bitcoin likely has an extended double S-curve adoption cycle. We are currently at the end of the first S-curve and the beginning of the second S-curve. The first S-curve (2010 - 2025) was retail adoption. The second S-curve (2025 - 2040) will be driven by adoption and integration from financial institutions and governments. $BTC
