SHIB, POL, and XLM collateral ratios are increasing—does borrowing more make things safer? 👀
Binance announcement: Starting at 14:00 Taiwan time on 10/23, the cross-margin borrowing/transfer collateral ratios and Unified Account collateral ratios for $SHIB , $POL , and $XLM will increase from 50% to 60%.
Key point: This is an adjustment to the collateral calculation rules. It doesn’t mean prices are going up or returns are increasing.
Cross Margin mainly affects how much you can borrow or transfer out; for Unified Accounts, keep an eye on the maintenance margin ratio (uniMMR).
I’ll be watching two things:
① The actual borrowing limit and safety buffer after the update.
② If I borrow up to the increased limit, how much of a cushion I’ll have if prices fall.
An increased limit can be kept as a buffer—you don’t have to use it all.
If you see your borrowing limit go up, would you keep it in reserve, or be tempted to add to your position? 😂
