BNB is set to burn $1.27 billion, but nobody cares!
Another burn is coming—the 37th, scheduled for mid-October.
The numbers are substantial: an estimated 1.6 million tokens based on the formula, worth about $1.27 billion at current prices. The last burn (July 15) destroyed 1.6158 million tokens, worth $932 million at the time. Afterward, the circulating supply stood at 133.17 million, with an ultimate target of 100 million.
But the market hasn’t reacted. BNB is now hovering around $767, down 44% from its all-time high of $1,369.99 a year ago (October 13, 2025).
The issue isn’t the numbers; it’s the “lack of surprises.” The burn mechanism has been running since 2017, happening every quarter and burning about 1.2% of the circulating supply each time—a 4% annual deflation rate. It’s a well-designed mechanism, but its defining feature is that everyone knows about it. The October event was already priced in by the end of September.
Markets price in surprises, not plans. What could really drive BNB is something else: whether the volume of RWA tokenization on BNB Chain is growing, whether new projects are using BNB as a settlement layer, or whether a regulatory announcement suddenly changes the rules of the game.
I’m not bearish on BNB. But if your only reason for buying it is “the burn is coming,” then you’re buying a calendar event that’s been anticipated for three months—and you won’t make money from an information edge.
