🛰️ Bitcoin mining could happen in space
Startup Starcloud plans to install an ASIC miner for Bitcoin on its satellite Starcloud-2.
The idea is quite unusual: use solar energy, which is available in orbit almost constantly, to power computing equipment.
Starcloud-2 is currently planned to launch in 2027. That means there is no “$BTC ” space mining yet—this is about a planned technology.
🔹 Who else is involved with the project?
Starcloud is responsible for the satellite itself. NVIDIA is related to computing technologies, Crusoe— to cloud infrastructure, and SpaceX/Starlink— to laser terminals for satellite communications.
Important: this does not mean these companies will mine Bitcoin. The ASIC for $BTC is only one of the planned components of Starcloud-2.
If the concept works out, it would be an interesting example of how Bitcoin mining, space infrastructure, and AI computing could intersect.
