Grenada recalled all its diplomats after the June 2022 elections, when the party that gave Sun the title was ousted from power, the Grenada Broadcast Network reported.
Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron blockchain, is reportedly no longer a diplomat in Grenada.
Sun was stripped of his ambassadorial status sometime after the June 2022 elections, when the New National Party, which awarded Sun the position, was ousted by the National Democratic Congress, the Grenada Broadcasting Network reported this week.
GBN reports that all ambassadors were recalled at some point in the "early months" of the now nine-month-old government, although Sun has not publicly acknowledged losing his position. This comes after weeks of speculation on social media and in the media that Sun may have lost his credentials.
In 2021, Sun was appointed as ambassador to the World Trade Organization by the Grenada government.
Since taking the position, Sun has touted his credentials, referring to himself as "Your Excellency" in interviews and on social media accounts. Sun last tweeted from his diplomatic Twitter account (@HEjustinsun) in October, and as of press time, he still retains the honorific "HE" on his personal Twitter account. He has not indicated that he is no longer an ambassador.
Officials at Grenada’s Office of Foreign Affairs and Government Information Services did not respond to requests for comment on whether Sun was still a diplomat.
Representatives for Sun and his company, Tron, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Justin Sun was sued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last week for fraud and violating securities laws. Sun, along with three of his companies, including the Tron Foundation, are accused of manipulating the market for Tron's native token TRX through "extensive wash trading" and "orchestrating a scheme to pay celebrities to peddle TRX... without disclosing their "Eight celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan and Jake Paul, were also charged and have since settled.
