According to CNBC, Abu Dhabi-based climate investor Altérra is seeking to show that climate investment can deliver competitive returns while attracting more private capital into the energy transition. Launched at COP28 in 2023 with a $30 billion commitment, the fund aims to mobilize $250 billion by 2030, and CEO Majid Al Suwaidi said Altérra has committed about $6.5 billion to date and is extremely confident it can reach that goal. He also discussed the fund's push into the Global South, its partnerships with global asset managers and the investment opportunities it sees in rising power demand from artificial intelligence and data centers.
