Base – a Layer 2 network on Ethereum incubated by Coinbase – officially launched the bridge to Solana, according to the announcement on Thursday. This integration is powered by Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

In the blog post, Base wrote: 'If we want to bring the world on-chain, we must simplify asset transfers to the maximum speed of the internet, explore cross-chain applications, and unlock value anywhere. This is a significant step towards the goal of making Base the center of the 'everything' economy: every asset, on every network, at any time – and Solana is just the starting point.'

According to the development team, the new bridge will help:

  • Developer on Base integrates Solana assets into applications;

  • Users trade Solana assets directly on Base;

  • Liquidity mining community between the two ecosystems Base and Solana.

Launched in August 2023, Base is built on the Optimism tech stack, aiming for a safe, low-cost, and developer-friendly network model. According to data, Base quickly became the strongest operating L2 ecosystem in terms of profit and the number of blobs.

In addition to supporting Solana's SPL tokens directly within applications on Base, the bridge also allows users and developers to transfer assets from Base to Solana. 'Users can trade and use cross-chain assets in applications that have integrated the bridge, regardless of whether they are on Base or Solana,' the team said.

Chainlink CCIP is currently one of the most popular cross-chain interaction standards, supporting token transfers and data transmission across multiple blockchains.

Base stated that the bridge to Solana uses a 'custom cross-chain oracle', with nodes from Coinbase and Chainlink independently verifying every message – ensuring that asset transactions between Base and Solana are safe and reliable.

Jesse Pollak – the founder of Base – hinted at the integration with Solana since August 2025. At the Basecamp event in September, he reaffirmed the multi-chain direction and mentioned that the team is considering launching a native token in the future.
