FIL supply cut by 75%, with 11 days left. ⏳
On October 15, Protocol Labs and the Filecoin Foundation’s 6-year token release program will officially reach its scheduled end—new supply will be slashed by about 75% directly. That’s the biggest “food shortage” in Filecoin history. In the same month, miners’ wages are also cut in half: 0.0032 → 0.0016 FIL/TiB/day.
Plainly put: FIL used to be like an all-you-can-eat buffet—you could grab whatever you wanted. After this, it becomes a limited, rationed supply. Take it or leave it.
On the chart, these past two days have been pretty well-behaved: after dipping to 0.98 on October 2, it bounced up for two straight days. The current price is 1.06, inching higher while riding MA7 (1.05) and MA25 (1.045). The range 1.02–1.05 is the “cushion” under your feet; up above, at 1.084, there’s a gatekeeper standing there (yesterday’s high). Once it clears the gatekeeper, look to 1.15.
Back in September, it already quietly ran up once—up 22%. This time, the supply contraction is basically “declared in the code,” out in the open. The question is: does the market dare to follow?
Not investment advice—DYOR.
