Cathie Woodโs detailed take on Starshipโs massive revenue potential:
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood recently highlighted a striking long-term vision for SpaceXโs Starship program. Drawing from analysis by ARK researcher Sam Korus, she noted that each Starship launch could generate roughly 1$ billion in annual revenue.
This figure is based on Starlinkโs current economics: the satellite internet network currently earns about $19 million per year for every terabit per second (Tbps) of capacity. A single fully loaded Starship can deploy next-generation V3 satellites that add around 61 Tbps of capacity to the network โ which multiplies out to nearly 1$ billion in recurring yearly connectivity revenue from just one flight.
Elon Musk has publicly targeted as many as 10,000 Starship flights per year by 2030 (roughly 27 launches every single day). If that cadence is achieved and every flight carries similar Starlink payload capacity, Wood calculates that Starship-related operations alone could generate an extraordinary $10 trillion in annual revenue.
She argued that if SpaceX reaches this ambitious goal, the companyโs $1.75โ$1.8 trillion IPO valuation (ticker:
$SPCX ) will look like a deep-value bargain in hindsight. Musk himself responded to her comments by saying the 10,000-flight target is โnot impossible.โ
(Note: The projection assumes continued high revenue per unit of capacity and that most flights support Starlink expansion, though ARK has acknowledged that revenue per Tbps has already been declining and that not every future launch will necessarily be dedicated to satellites.)
