DuskEVM testnet flipped live on Aug 13, and I finally sat down to poke around it instead of just reading the announcement thread. #dusk $DUSK @Dusk had been teasing this for months as the bridge that lets Ethereum devs "just deploy" with privacy baked in. Cool premise. Went looking for what's actually running on it.
Found... Pieswap. That's basically it. One DEX. Everything else is grant-fund promises — 15M DUSK sitting there for builders, mostly untouched. Sub-$1M TVL total right now, which is small next to what other privacy chains are pulling. Hmm — not what I expected given how loud the EVM-compatibility narrative has been this month.
Here's the thing that actually stuck with me though: the "privacy by default, selective disclosure when needed" design is real and it works exactly as described in testing. But default usage right now is basically institutional rails waiting for NPEX-style issuers, not retail devs building on the EVM layer yet. The infra is ahead of the apps. I keep going back and forth on whether that's a red flag or just... early.
Anyone actually building something live on the DuskEVM testnet yet, or is everyone still watching from the sidelines like me?
