Japanese payment service provider NETSTARS completed a Stablecoin Pay in-store payment proof-of-concept experiment at a Rosson store in Tokyo on August 17. According to its official website and media reports, the test used the MetaMask wallet and covered three types of stablecoins as well as public chains such as Solana, Morph, and Polygon. POS-linked payments operated normally; the solution reused the stores’ existing cashier equipment, requiring no new terminals. Merchants ultimately received fiat settlement. This indicates that stablecoin payments are expanding from on-chain transfers to offline retail. If store coverage is broadened in the future, it may affect the penetration rate of daily small-value payments. $SOL is for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice.
