Two weeks ago, I was invited to Daklak to advise businesses on bringing durian exports to the US and China.

I worked continuously for 7 days, including Sunday, met nearly 2,000 people, and spoke with both farmers and businesses.

The main issue I explained was transparency and clarity around product information: quality, production processes, packaging, and everything related to durian.

“Customers need to know where their durian comes from, how it was grown, where it was packaged, have transparent information, and the most essential thing alongside that is security.”

Everyone was hesitant at first, but I knew this was something we had to make work.

That trip reminded me of Dusk.

The problem is similar. In regulated finance, institutions need to prove that assets, transactions, and participants meet certain requirements. But that does not mean every sensitive detail should become public.

This is where Dusk’s approach to programmable privacy becomes interesting to me.

With confidential smart contracts and Confidential Security Contracts, Dusk is designed around keeping sensitive information private while still allowing authorized parties to verify what matters.

Zero-knowledge proofs take this further: users can prove they satisfy conditions without exposing personal or financial data. That creates a different model of transparency—not revealing everything, but revealing the right information to the right party when needed.

For regulated markets, that distinction matters.

Dusk also focuses on deterministic settlement, giving digital assets a predictable path from issuance and transfer to settlement.

My experience in Daklak taught me that transparency and privacy are not necessarily opposites. The challenge is building infrastructure where both can exist together.

That is the part of Dusk I am paying attention to now: not just bringing finance on-chain, but making blockchain practical for markets where compliance, privacy, verification, and transparency all need to work at the same time.
