According to PANews, Mercado Libre, one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Latin America, has disclosed that it holds over $40 million in cryptocurrency. As per the company's Q1 2024 report, as of March 31, the company held 412.7 Bitcoins and 3041.6 Ethereum.
However, Richard Cathcart, the company's Chief Information Officer, clarified that Mercado Libre does not own these assets. He explained that the company had liquidated its cryptocurrency in 2023. Cathcart stated that the report 'reflects the fact that we offer services for users to buy, hold, and sell. But currently, we ourselves do not hold these assets.'
