Binance Charity Donates €2M to the Palace of Versailles

2021-11-18

Binance Charity has announced a €2 million donation to restore the Bull’s Eye Antechamber, one of the treasures of the Palace of Versailles.

Part of the King's apartment, the salon was created in 1701 by King Louis XIV himself who made it a strategic point of the royal apartment: to the north, it leads to the King's bedroom and to the west, the famous Hall of Mirrors (where the Treaty of Versailles was signed) allowing courtiers to enter or leave the King's home. The Bull’s Eye Antechamber is named for its circular window. It combines a Baroque and Classical style, making it a unique place within the Palace.

Speaking about the donation, CZ commented: The Palace of Versailles is a historic and incredibly valuable cultural asset. I was fortunate to visit on my recent trip to France and was hugely impressed by the passion and care with which it is kept in immaculate condition. I’m proud that Binance is able to contribute to keeping important parts of national and international heritage available for future generations.”

Catherine Pégard, President of the Palace of Versailles added: It is with great joy that we welcome the generous donation from CZ, CEO of Binance. We had the pleasure of receiving him in Versailles, where he was able to see that the Palace of Versailles is also synonymous with innovation, artistic and scientific creation. He was fascinated by his visit and decided to make a donation that will be of great use to this monument admired throughout the world”.

The donation follows the recent announcement that Binance has committed €100 million to establish a French Binance Research and Development hub, create a Decentralized Ledger Technology (DLT) accelerator and build a new online Education Programme to develop blockchain and crypto industry talent in France.
