AI in a mining farm first needs to understand what each machine is saying. 🤖
On October 24, Tether announced a down-to-earth development: 15 mining companies, mining hardware manufacturers, and mining pools have committed to helping integrate MDK (Mining Development Kit).
A mining farm might have machines from different brands, each with its own software. MDK aims to act like a “translation layer” for them, so developers don’t have to build a new integration from scratch every time they work with a different device manufacturer.
This is a direction worth discussing. For AI to help diagnose faults and manage operations, the underlying data and interfaces first need to connect. Otherwise, even the smartest AI may only be offering advice from behind a screen.
That said, a commitment to participate doesn’t mean it’s fully rolled out. The announcement sets a target of releasing the first stable version, 1.0, by the end of this year. What comes next will depend on how well it works in practice and how compatible it proves to be.
If you ran a mining farm, would you let AI report faults only, or allow it to handle them automatically within set limits?
