Here’s a personal strategy for quickly finding altcoins worth trading. It’s actually very simple—not complicated at all. Any logic you use has to be based on facts; only then does it hold up.
It’s Sunday, so the altcoin market should normally be fun today. But in reality, out of more than 600 altcoins, only six are worth trading. What does that mean? Only one out of every 100 altcoins is worth trading—that’s 1%.
Don’t talk about getting in early, don’t talk about buying a whole basket of coins, and don’t talk about whether something is a good project or has positive news. Today we’re only talking about immediate results. Some people get in early and the price doesn’t rise for a year; others get in early and the coin gets delisted a year later. So what’s the point of getting in early? You could have held FIL or DOT for three years and still ended up at a loss.
Only people who lack the skill buy a whole basket of coins. Isn’t that just casting a wide net? If you get the method right, you only need to pick one—you don’t need to cast a wide net. You’ve heard the saying, “Don’t put all your eggs 🥚 in one basket,” but somehow you end up in every group trying to get compensation?
1. At any time, treat any altcoin with trading volume below 100 million U as garbage, no matter how high-quality it is, how many people believe in it, or how impressive it seems. (Volume and price action are everything; the rest is just talk.)
2. Today is Sunday, October 18. Take a look at how many coins have 24-hour trading volume above $100 million. There should be no more than 20. Excluding Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other major coins, that leaves only five or six altcoins—for example, Q, AGT, ICNT, SAND, AVA, and ERA. If you’re trading altcoins today and haven’t touched any of these coins, then you’re 100% at a loss.
3. The market makes its own choices, and the market is always right. Respect its choices, follow them, and be in awe of the market. The market runs on volume and price action; making money depends on liquidity. Trading volume says it all, and volume and price action determine what you should choose. So when the market is a complete mess, avoid trading as much as possible.
4. Making money doesn’t always come down to skill; more often, it comes down to luck. Don’t mistake luck for skill. Maybe the market happened to have liquidity and FOMO when you had a large position, so making money felt like a given. But when there’s no liquidity, no FOMO, and the market is dead, all your efforts just speed up your losses.
5. The key to quickly picking coins is to look among those with 24-hour trading volume above 100 million U for ones with good chart patterns and sustained volume and price action. Ideally, they should be making new highs and have a strong narrative or positive news. Then make your final choice.
