🚨 WEST AFRICA: BINANCE AND COINBASE TAKE PART IN AN ANTI-SCAM OPERATION
An international operation held in London from October 6 to 9 targeted scam networks operating notably in Ghana 🇬🇭 and Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Participants included Binance, Coinbase, Meta, Google, Microsoft and Chainalysis, alongside the FBI, INTERPOL, the UK’s National Crime Agency and African security agencies.
📊 Authorities announced the following results:
🔹 28 arrests in Ghana and Nigeria.
🔹 More than 30 suspected scam centers reported to investigators.
🔹 More than $11 million in potentially freezable funds identified.
🔹 117 human trafficking victims identified in Ghana.
Meta announced that it had removed more than 3.7 million fraudulent accounts, pages and groups on Facebook and Instagram.
These results stem from cooperation between the authorities and participating companies. They cannot be attributed to Binance or Coinbase alone.
