With the U.S. Treasury market closed Monday, don’t use project news to explain price action
The crypto calendar is packed today, but one of the easiest mistakes to make is to see BTC or altcoins move and then grab some project news to explain it.
U.S. stock markets are open as usual on Monday, but the Treasury market is closed. For markets, that means an important gauge of risk appetite—the yield—is temporarily unavailable. Prices will still move, of course, but it may not be appropriate to immediately interpret the day’s short-term swings as a shift in macro capital flows.
Within the crypto market, the event worth watching separately today is the APT unlock.
The point of an unlock isn’t whether the price will fall. It’s whether there’s enough trading volume and liquidity to absorb the additional tokens entering circulation. It primarily affects APT itself; it can’t be used to explain the entire altcoin market, much less BTC’s price movements.
Another development is Upbit’s cessation of trading support for RVN. This will affect RVN’s liquidity and trading routes in the Korean market, but it’s a single-token liquidity event. It doesn’t mean exchanges are broadly tightening restrictions, nor does it signal systemic risk across the entire market.
As for TGE claims, industry conferences, and company votes on the calendar, most are project-level developments and aren’t enough on their own to reshape the broader market.
So today’s priorities are simple:
First, distinguish market-wide factors from single-token factors;
Then, check whether prices have genuinely reacted;
If there’s no real reaction, don’t rush to draw conclusions on the market’s behalf.
If you have a different take, feel free to share it in the comments.
