48th Trading Strategy Journal|Mistakes Are Mistakes

In the 48th issue, the two strategies provided—short positions near Bitcoin 82,000 and short positions near Ethereum 2,680—eventually both got stopped out and exited.

There’s nothing to explain. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong.

From the first issue until now, this is already the 48th. I’ve always stuck to one principle: I don’t delete posts or rewrite history. When I’m right, I record it; when I’m wrong, I record that too. Since I choose to publish my own trades, I should accept the market’s tests—and also everyone’s judgment.

But this stop-loss made me realize a more important problem than the loss itself. The most frightening thing in trading isn’t being wrong about the market—it’s once you have a directional position in hand, you start, almost unconsciously, to look only for reasons that support your own view.

When I hold a short position, I find that my articles, my analysis, even my chart-watching mindset all tilt—without me noticing—toward the bearish side. Even when the market shows some signals that should be a warning, it’s easy to selectively ignore them.

This is a very dangerous state in trading.

So, starting tomorrow, I’m deciding to press the pause button for myself.

Stop actual trading for one week: no opening positions, no carrying positions—just watch the market.

During this week, I will completely set aside the positions I currently hold. I won’t assume any long or short bias, and I’ll return to viewing the market from the perspective of an observer.

When it’s time to go long, I’ll go long. When it’s time to go short, I’ll go short.

And even if, later on, the market changes and my view switches from bearish to bullish, please don’t find it strange. Trading isn’t about proving you were right earlier—it’s about constantly correcting yourself in front of the market.

Issue 48—running all the way to now. There are profits, and there are stop-losses; there are times I get it right, and times when the market slaps me hard.

But I always believe that being wrong isn’t scary. What’s scary is after being wrong, still desperately trying to prove you’re right.

This week, I won’t trade. I’ll just be an observer.

And I also hope that through this pause, my analysis will have fewer biases caused by positions, and more truly objective judgment.

The market will never rise just because we’re bullish. And it will never fall just because we’re bearish.

Next, let the market show us the answer.
