There’s a scene that repeats every afternoon in Telegram groups: someone sees the radar, sees "961,23" and goes looking for that price. They don’t find it. Or they do, but only for 20 USDT and only if they pay into a bank that they don’t have. The radar number is an aggregated reference, not an executable offer. The executable offer lives in the P2P order book, and it comes with price, amount, minimum limit, maximum limit, and bank.

We use as a measurable example the market of September 21, 2026, 16:00 UTC. It’s meant to help you learn the method; the numbers change every day. As context, reports from TRM Labs cited by sector media placed Venezuela among the markets with the highest crypto adoption in Q1 2026, with USDT as the star. Part of that activity is explained by the fact that Venezuelans prefer USDT over other stablecoins.

📊 The radar says 2.29%; the order book says 1.81%

That day, the radar showed USDT/VES with a reference rate of 961.2341 Bs, a selling peak at 939.6801 Bs, and a spread of 21.554 Bs—that is, 2.29%. The BCV was at 849.564 Bs, leaving a premium of 13.14% versus the official rate. For comparison, the parallel dollar was at 956.51 Bs.

The aggregated order book, on the other hand, showed a better buy level at 942.64 Bs and a better sell level at 960 Bs: a spread of 17.36 Bs, or 1.81%. Mid price: 951.32 Bs.

Difference between the two headlines: 0.48 percentage points. And that’s only the first layer of the book. Technical note: here the best buy level is below the sell level because the levels come from three aggregated exchanges (other platforms and Binance), not from a single order book. In a single-exchange book, you’d see the inverted order.

📈 Step 1: read the levels, not the headline

Each line in the book brings three hard facts: price, amount in USDT, and total in bolívares. In the example:

• 942.64 Bs — 104.90 USDT — 98,878.51 Bs — 1 offer — other platforms, exchange (no banks).

• 959.00 Bs — 25,695.55 USDT — 24,642,032.45 Bs — 8 offers — Banesco, Mercantil, Bancamiga, Bancaribe, BNC Banco Nacional y Pago Móvil banks.

• 960.00 Bs (sell side) — 1,100 USDT — 1,056,000 Bs — 1 offer — other platforms, no declared banks.

The first buy level is 1.93% below the radar rate. If you took 100 USDT at 942.64 Bs, the total would be 94,264 Bs; at the radar rate it would be 96,123.41 Bs. We’re talking about a difference of 1,859.41 Bs in a small trade. That’s what separates “the price I saw” from “the price I executed.”

🔎 Step 2: measure depth, not just the first price

The first level almost never holds your full amount. That’s why market depth exists: add the volume available at each level until you cover what you need.

On that 21-09, the book had 36 buy offers and 45 sell offers, with 94 listings in total. Accumulated volume: 1,320,900.75 USDT on the buying side versus 80,278.85 USDT on the selling side. That results in an 88.54% imbalance toward the buy side.

Interpretation: there’s far more intention to buy USDT than to sell it. When the book is loaded like that, the lower levels run out quickly and the average price you end up paying moves away from the best level. This phenomenon is called slippage, and it’s the number one reason two people see different prices in the same minute.

💰 Step 3: check amounts and limits before getting your hopes up

Look at the example limits. The 942.64 Bs level has a minimum of 10.49 USDT and a maximum of 104.89 USDT: that’s a small offer. The 959.00 Bs level has a minimum of 5 USDT and a maximum of 8,227.63 USDT: that’s where a large trade fits. And on the sell side, the 950.00 Bs level accumulates 637,450.66 USDT, with individual maximums reaching 626,258.55 USDT.

Simple rule: the best price is rarely at the level with the highest volume. The comfortable price is usually a bit higher, with wider limits. You decide what matters more: the amount per USDT or how easy it is to execute.

🛡️ Step 4: the bank determines whether the price is real
