Today I’ll teach you the simplest chart-reading technique: support and resistance.
Let’s use BTC as an example. Right now it’s at $79,235 (24h -0.8%). How do you spot support? Look for the most recent levels where price couldn’t drop any further. If it’s repeatedly tested but never breaks, that’s strong support. Resistance works the same way: the level that price can’t push above becomes resistance. That’s it—don’t complicate things with fancy indicators. Moving averages, MACD, and Bollinger Bands can actually make you more confused.
The rule of thumb is just one line: buy at support, sell at resistance. If it breaks, get out. If support holds, keep holding. I’ve seen too many people who draw indicators across a whole screen, and in the end they can’t even hold the 5-day moving average before they panic and run.
My grid strategy is built on this principle: buy in batches near the support level, sell in batches near the resistance level, and execute mechanically without getting emotional. With BTC currently moving -0.8%, grid trading treats that as basically “money being delivered.” A three-year backtest shows an annualized return of 18–25%, with a maximum drawdown of 4%. It all comes down to discipline.
