Interim House Speaker Patrick McHenry recently ordered former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to vacate her private office in the Capitol on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. McHenry gave the eviction order as one of his initial actions as the top member of the House. Pelosi received an eviction notice via email stating that her hiding place would be repurposed for use in the speaker's office. According to a spokesman for the former speaker, Pelosi moved immediately on Tuesday. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' staff assisted him in doing so.
“With all the important decisions the new Republican Leadership must make, which we are all eagerly awaiting, one of the first actions the new Speaker Pro Tempore took was to order me to immediately vacate my office in the Capitol.”
