A Small Trader's Guide to Futures Trading( For Beginners)

I see many new traders open Futures and directly click 20x Buy/Long. If your account is small, that is the fastest way to lose it. This is how I learned to understand Futures safely:

Look at my screenshot - XAUUSDT Perp as example:

1. What is USDⓈ-M Perp?
You trade with USDT, not real Gold. You don't own Gold, you are trading the price. Perp means it has no expiry.

2. Cross vs Isolated?
I always recommend Isolated for small accounts.
Cross = One bad trade can take your whole Futures wallet.
Isolated = You lose only what you put in that one trade.

3. Leverage is not profit, it's risk.
20x means with $10 you control $200. But liquidation is also 20x faster.
Gold (XAU) moves very fast. On 20x, a 4-5% move against you can liquidate you. Small traders should learn on 2x-3x only.

4. The most important button: TP/SL
Before you click Buy/Long or Sell/Short, always turn on TP/SL.
SL = Where you accept you are wrong.
TP = Where you book profit.
Professional rule: Never risk more than 1-2% of your total capital in one trade.

5. Funding & BBO
Funding Fee is charged every 4-8 hours for holding a trade. BBO is just the best price to get instant fill.

My 3 Rules for Small Accounts:
1. Practice first on Mock Trading / Demo 2. One trade = 5-10% of your Futures balance max, with Isolated 2-3x 3. No trade without Stop Loss. No revenge trading after a loss.
Futures is a tool, not a lottery. Learn risk management first, profit comes later.
