Everyone's watching the price. The smart money is watching the revenue.

$TAO is sitting at ~$222 right now — down ~17% in 30 days, ~71% below its $757.60 all-time high from March 2024. The chart looks ugly. RSI is ~36, price is below every major moving average, and the algo models are flashing "Strong Sell."

But here's the part nobody's talking about: Bittensor's subnets just hit ~$70M in annualized revenue. That's double the $35M of two months ago — up 40% in a month, from real compute subnets.

So we have the strangest split in crypto right now: the business is doubling while the token is bleeding. Which one is lying?

Let me be straight with you — the price weakness isn't a mystery. A $5.8M token unlock just added fresh supply, the whole market is scared (Fear & Greed at 28), and $BTC is pinned at $75K with CPI landing Tuesday. High-beta AI tokens get hit hardest in tapes like this. TAO fell ~8% in a single day on 5 Nov and barely bounced.

And the bear case is real, not FUD. That $70M revenue sounds big until you compare it to roughly $370M a year in emissions — the network still pays out far more than it earns. Around 64% of supply is staked, which keeps the float thin and moves violent in both directions. And there's a genuine governance fight: Covenant AI, the biggest subnet developer, walked out accusing the founder of controlling the governance multisig. The founder disputes it, but the question is unresolved.

$TAO is sitting at ~$222. That $220–230 zone is the exact spot where TAO has bottomed and bounced before: the July 2024 hack low was $227, and the September 2024 rally launched from ~$220.

The levels are clean. Support sits at ~$217, then $212. Lose $217 on a daily close and the next stop is $190. On the upside, $228–232 is the first wall, then the 50-day average at ~$259. A daily close above $259 flips the whole short-term picture.

And the catalysts are real, not vibes. On 6 Nov the Opentensor Foundation announced native post-quantum wallet signatures for the chain — a first for a major L1. Grayscale is pushing to convert its Bittensor Trust into a spot ETF, and Bitwise has a filing date of 22 Nov. Jason Calacanis is publicly long. Even the social data is strange: engagements up 5,231% this week, but sentiment at a 1-year low.

Compare that to the rest of AI crypto: $NEAR is the sector's 2026 winner, while FET is winning the hype race on social. TAO is winning a different race — the revenue one. The question is whether the market starts paying for revenue before the next leg down.

My take: TAO isn't a "buy the dip" story or a dead coin. It's a decision-zone trade. Hold $217 into CPI Tuesday and the revenue story finally has room to breathe. Lose it, and $190 comes fast.
