According to ChainCatcher, TikTok parent ByteDance is considering expanding its data center project at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex in Ceará, northeastern Brazil, and is seeking a developer for the second phase. The phase could be larger than the facility currently under construction in the state, which involves a $10 billion investment and 300 megawatts of capacity, according to people familiar with the matter.

ByteDance has also held preliminary talks with developers about a similarly sized data center outside the port to serve Brazilian customers. Data centers inside the port must export data to qualify for tax incentives. ByteDance previously announced plans to invest 200 billion reais, or about $36 billion, in the complex in phases. Construction on the first phase began in early 2026.
