Strategy's Cash Drops 45% as Buybacks Exceed Bitcoin Purchases

In the week ending November 1, Strategy's deployable cash decreased by 45.3%, dropping from $242 million to $133 million. This decline happened as the company's preferred-stock buybacks outpaced its Bitcoin purchases, which totaled 811 BTC during this period. The firm spent around $66 million on these Bitcoin purchases at an average price of $80,846 per coin.

The latest acquisition brought Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings to 849,327 BTC, purchased for a total of $64 billion at an average cost of $75,451 per coin. This marked a return to larger Bitcoin purchases after a brief pause while the company focused on repurchasing its preferred stock. The firm had previously acquired smaller amounts of Bitcoin earlier in October.

While the company generated $164 million from selling shares of its common stock, only $66 million was allocated to Bitcoin purchases. The remaining funds were directed towards increasing its deployable cash balance, which faced pressure from the aggressive buyback program for preferred shares.

This trend of prioritizing buybacks over Bitcoin purchases could impact market dynamics and investor sentiment. As Strategy continues its share repurchase program, traders may want to monitor how it affects the crypto market and Bitcoin's price stability.
