🧧🧧🧧🧧🧧
Solana just had its event in China shut down.
And the funniest part is that CZ basically warned about this one day earlier.
First Solana Foundation announced that it has opened an office in Pudong, occupying one of the highest commercial office spaces
All of this in a country where crypto is heavily restricted.
A day before CZ notices Solana’s expansion and publicly comments on how surprising it is.
He says it’s amazing that Solana can advertise and open an office in China.
(Especially considering BNB Chain hasn’t been able to do the same)
Sounds pretty reasonable, right?
Well, less than 24 hours later…
The first event was supposed to take place at the Shangri-La hotel in Shanghai.
The event was scheduled to begin at 10 AM.
Instead, attendees arrived to find police officers at the venue.
You genuinely cannot make this stuff up.
Around noon, organizers sent an apology email arguing “Venue logistics considerations.”
CZ them posted:
“Sad to see. Looks like they really didn’t know the local policies?”
And reminded everyone that something similar had happened less than a year ago.
I’ve seen people joking that he snitched on them.
I actually respect Solana’s ambition to expand into one of the biggest markets
But I think there’s a difference between building blockchain infrastructure in China and publicly promoting a crypto ecosystem
This week Solana might have crossed that line and CZ is probably thinking he told them so.$GLMR #GLMR
