🚨 BREAKING: Brazil’s Biggest Stock Exchange Is Moving Into Tokenization

$B3 , Brazil’s largest stock exchange, is now targeting the first half of 2027 to launch its securities tokenization platform. The launch was originally expected in the second half of 2026, but the timeline has been pushed back.

The idea is pretty straightforward: bring traditional stocks and other securities into a tokenized format without changing what they represent. According to the report, these tokenized securities will be interchangeable with traditional shares and will carry the same price and liquidity.

But there’s an important detail here. B3 is not planning to move everything fully on-chain. The tokens will be issued against existing assets, and settlement will still follow the current two-business-day cycle. So, this is a move toward tokenization, not an immediate shift to instant settlement.

B3 is also working on plans for its own stablecoin and intends to seek approval from Brazil’s central bank to offer digital asset and custody services.

The exchange is still deciding whether depositary receipts and ETFs will be part of the new system. Around-the-clock trading and instant settlement are also not guaranteed, as both would require regulatory approval or changes to the existing rules.

The bigger picture: Traditional finance is increasingly looking at how blockchain can fit into existing market infrastructure. B3 plan is another example of that shift, although the actual impact will depend on how the platform is built, approved and adopted.

2027 is still a target, not a confirmed launch date. For now, the interesting part is that one of Brazil’s biggest financial market operators is taking tokenization seriously.
