🚨 DOGE JUST GOT A NEW USE CASE TO TEST
Dogecoin now has a public DogeOS testnet, bringing an EVM-compatible application layer to the Dogecoin ecosystem.
Developers can test smart-contract applications, trading, lending, stablecoins and games, while DOGE is used for transaction fees on the testnet.
But here’s the part that matters:
DogeOS is still a testnet. Dogecoin’s base layer does not currently verify the rollup’s zero-knowledge proofs natively. A proposed Dogecoin Core upgrade would be needed for that future functionality.
So this is not “DOGE has become Ethereum.”
It’s something more realistic:
Dogecoin is testing a new application layer that could give DOGE much more utility.
