🚨 ZCASH JUST PUT NU7 ON THE TESTNET
Zcash’s NU7 upgrade activated on its public testnet at block 4,465,026 on October 4, ahead of the previously expected schedule. The biggest change is a move toward 25-second target block times, down from 75 seconds.
NU7 also changes the fee structure, with 60% of transaction fees directed to a reserve for future mining rewards, while block rewards are adjusted so the overall issuance schedule is preserved.
But this is the key point:
NU7 is NOT live on Zcash mainnet yet.
Developers plan to review the testnet results and make a mainnet activation decision around October 20, with November 5 currently targeted for the mainnet upgrade.
This is a real network-development milestone — now the testnet has to prove it works.
