🔗 #CardanoJoinsX402PaymentStandard — From Testing to Officially Live

This one's got a real arc. Back in December, Cardano's Masumi team was just testing x402 support, with founder Charles Hoskinson calling it "very big for Cardano." Nine months later, it's official — Cardano Foundation engineers have now built native x402 support directly into the protocol's codebase.
Why this matters more than a typical integration headline:
🔹 What x402 actually is — Coinbase built it on the old, unused HTTP "402 Payment Required" status code, creating a standard way for websites, apps, and AI agents to request and settle small crypto payments instantly, without accounts or saved payment info.
🔹 This is aimed at AI agents specifically — the real use case is bots and AI agents autonomously paying for API calls, data access, or services in real time. Think micropayments happening between machines, not humans manually checking out.
🔹 Cardano needed this boost — despite a $24 billion market cap, Cardano's DeFi TVL sits at a comparatively thin ~$322 million. Positioning as transaction-layer infrastructure for the emerging AI-agent economy is a genuine new growth lane, separate from competing in DeFi.
🔹 It's now developer-ready, not just conceptual — native support spans client, server, and facilitator components, live across Cardano's mainnet, preprod, and preview environments. That's the difference between a roadmap promise and something builders can actually use today.
🔹 Cardano joins an expanding ecosystem — x402 already counts major tech and payment companies among its supporters, so this plugs ADA into a standard with real momentum behind it, not a proprietary dead end.
If the AI-agent economy actually takes off, the chains that got payment rails ready early could see real, sticky utility.
Does x402 become genuine utility demand for ADA, or is this another "big if" narrative? 👇
