Pepe Unchained says it is navigating a “challenging period” after MEXC decided to delist PEPU despite what the team described as continued market-making efforts.

MEXC had placed PEPU under an ST risk warning on August 11 and listed September 17 as its estimated delisting date. MEXC did not specify why $PEPU was selected for removal. Its notice said deposits and trading would stop after delisting, while withdrawals would remain available for 30 days.

The Pepe Unchained team also disclosed that 500 million PEPU remains unclaimed under its L2 compensation program. Eligible holders have until October 19 to claim. After the deadline, unclaimed tokens will be redirected toward project growth and community initiatives.

Developers also missed that week’s deliverables because of unforeseen delays. The team did not identify the affected work and said deliveries were expected to begin the following week.
Pepe Unchained launched in December 2024 after a presale that the team said raised $73 million. Five months later, it announced a chain migration from Optimism-based infrastructure to an Arbitrum-powered chain.

Holders were offered a 1 to 1 token swap, while total PEPU supply increased from 8 billion to 16 billion. The team said the additional tokens would support expanded staking rewards.

The L2 compensation program uses an April 24, 2025 snapshot and pays allocations in PEPU over six months.
