Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy said the Strait of Hormuz is currently closed and under "smart control." According to ChainCatcher, the supertanker Al-Ghayah exploded after hitting a mine while attempting to pass through a restricted area, leaving the vessel on fire. Iran said it had warned ships about the dangerous route and that vessels passing through the area would do so at their own risk.
