I was looking at Babylon’s circuit design today and honestly, the 10.75 TB figure made me hesitate.
At first, 250 counterparties holding around 43 GB each felt almost wasteful. But the more I thought about it, the less storage size mattered.
The real cost is persistent readiness.
Babylon isn’t keeping all that data because 250 challenges will happen. It’s paying upfront for the ability to respond if even one relationship breaks under pressure. That means the real question isn’t “how much data is used?” but “how reliably can operators access and reproduce it when needed?”
I’m keeping my $BABY position small for now because this part still bothers me. Backups, replication, credentials, checksums and recovery testing can push the footprint well beyond 10 TB.
Some unused infrastructure is normal. But if maintaining readiness becomes too expensive, security can quietly become a privilege.
