According to Odaily, OpenAI, last year in July, announced the establishment of a new research team to prepare for the advent of superintelligence, a form of intelligence that could outsmart and overpower its creators. Ilya Sutskever, the Chief Scientist and one of the co-founders of OpenAI, was appointed as the co-leader of this new team. OpenAI stated that this team would receive 20% of its computational capabilities.
Now, OpenAI's 'Super Alignment Team' has been disbanded, a fact confirmed by the company. Prior to this, several researchers involved in the team had resigned, and news on Tuesday indicated that Sutskever would be leaving the company. The other co-leader of the team has also resigned. The work of this team will be integrated into other research efforts within OpenAI.
