EthereumMax (EMAX) investors have been given a final chance to amend their class-action lawsuit against celebrities accused of promoting the now-defunct cryptocurrency. The suit targets Floyd Mayweather, Paul Pierce, Kim Kardashian, and others for allegedly promoting EMAX in a "pump and dump" scheme. The court denied Mayweather's and Pierce's motions to dismiss state consumer law claims, while EMAX co-founder Giovanni Perone was granted an amendment dismissal of securities claims. The plaintiffs must re-file their complaint, and the defendants must answer the remaining claims. In 2022, Kim Kardashian was charged by the SEC for unlawfully promoting the token and agreed to pay $1.26 million in penalties.
