𝗕𝗧𝗖 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼, yet most of its value has remained on the sidelines.
Not because people didn't want to use it - but because using BTC in DeFi often meant making compromises.
Wrapping it.
Bridging it.
Or trusting another party to hold it.
That's why I've been following what @BabylonLabs_io is building with 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 (𝗧𝗕𝗩).
The goal isn't to change Bitcoin. It's to make native Bitcoin useful across on-chain applications while preserving the principles that made Bitcoin valuable in the first place.
Imagine using your BTC as collateral for lending without giving up self-custody or relying on centralized intermediaries.
If infrastructure like this continues to mature, we could see Bitcoin become much more than a passive store of value - it could become a productive asset across multiple blockchain ecosystems.
I think that's a conversation worth paying attention to, regardless of market conditions.
I've started paying more attention to something else: how a 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹 behaves while it's waiting.
With 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 (TBV), waiting doesn't necessarily mean something is broken. Sometimes it's the protocol making sure different participants reach the same view before moving forward.
That changes how I think about reliability. Fast confirmations are great, but predictable coordination is just as important - especially when native Bitcoin is being used as collateral.
We often celebrate what users can see. The harder engineering challenge is making the parts we don't see work consistently.
