1.What are Ethscriptions?
Simply put, Ethscriptions is a protocol that is a new way to create and share digital artwork on Ethereum that is cheaper and more decentralized than NFTs. In contrast, NFTs often rely on data stored in specific contracts, which may be controlled by a single person. The domain name on it is somewhat similar to the ENS we are familiar with. ENS is paid annually, while the domain name registration cost of Ethscriptions is relatively low, and the domain name does not need to be renewed every year. The project, developed by Genius co-founder and former CEO Tom Lehman, attracted attention upon launch, with nearly 30,000 Ethscriptions reportedly created in less than 18 hours.
In fact, the earliest Ethscriptions protocol was created in 2016, but Tom Lehman only developed a related product for the protocol on June 17 this year, called Ethscriptions (corresponding to a website). It seems that most of the people who are currently shouting the most popular slogans online were those who participated in June-July!
Ethscriptions allow digital objects to be created and shared on Ethereum using invocation data and are a tribute to Inscriptions. It enables non-financial and arbitrary data to be written to the Ethereum blockchain, as long as the file size does not exceed 96 kilobytes, and users can inscribe any type of file. But its creator, Lehman, also says that currently it only allows inscription of image files (but this will change in the future).
The inscription of Ethscriptions utilizes Ethereum's Calldata. In addition to being cheaper and more decentralized than using contract storage, this protocol can also "guarantee that all valid Ethscriptions content is unique."
After Eth Inscriptions went online, the first Eth Inscriptions collection Ethereum punk was quickly completed. After Ethereum Punk, a token style similar to Brc20 quickly appeared. The first representative was eths, and then gwei, fomo, etc. appeared one after another. Currently, the leading digital token in the Ethscriptions protocol is eths, but all of them have been sold out.
2. How to mint Eth inscriptions
Let's take fomo as an example (it has been typed so far) and first briefly introduce the engraving method of Ethscriptions.
Step 1: Open the advanced settings of the MetaMask wallet and turn on the "Show Hexadecimal Data" button inside. As shown below.
Step 2: Copy and modify the code below as needed:

You can replace "fomo" in the code with ercs or dumb or other Token names, and then replace the number after "id" with a number from 1 to 21000.

For example, after I searched for the following code, no search results were displayed, so it is obvious that fomo with ID 666 has been hit. As shown below.

Step 4: Convert the code that has not been typed after the above query into hexadecimal format through the transcoding website, and then copy the corresponding hexadecimal code. As shown below.

Step 5: Open the encrypted wallet, transfer money to yourself, enter 0 ETH for the transfer amount, and paste the hexadecimal code copied above. As shown below.
Gas currently costs almost 0.001 ETH (less than $2).
Step 6. Finally, click the Next button to confirm the signature. At this point, you have completed a casting.

3. How to query the Eth inscription you cast yourself?
So how to check whether the inscription you cast is valid?
The first method: and the simplest method, you can query directly through the Ethscriptions website we mentioned above: enter the website and connect your own MetaMask wallet, then click on Profile in the navigation bar at the top of the website to see all the coins you have minted. inscription.

Second method: You can also query through the Dune tool we mentioned above, and directly enter your wallet address or your eth domain name to search. However, because the Dune tool has a delay, it usually takes 10-20 minutes to update, so if you don’t want to wait, you can also click the Run button in the upper right corner before querying.
4. How to trade Eth inscriptions
More people definitely do this not for the so-called collection, but to make money. So, how should the minted Ets inscriptions be traded?
