BNB Chain's Jenner upgrade: a 5% fast lane for payments, but stablecoins aren't in it yet

Jenner went live on the BSC Chapel testnet on Oct 29 (02:30 UTC). The headline feature is BEP-703 Payment Lane: by default, 5% of every block's gas is reserved for payments, and governance can raise that to a 10% cap. Mainnet is targeted for late November, with no exact date yet.

I like the idea. When a memecoin launch clogs blocks, a merchant payout shouldn't have to fight every bot for space. But read what actually qualifies.

Today only plain, nonzero $BNB transfers to accounts with no code count automatically. Sends to contracts or delegated (7702-style) accounts don't. The payment-contract list starts empty, so stablecoins only qualify after governance lists them. And it checks the address the transaction goes to directly: a stablecoin transfer routed through an unlisted router or aggregator doesn't count. Unused reserved gas stays idle, and the lane doesn't guarantee inclusion or cheaper fees.

The real test is which stablecoin contracts get listed, and how fast. Payments on BSC are mostly stablecoins, not raw BNB.
