Binance has disclosed a case involving someone impersonating a staff member: the user scanned a QR code as instructed and unknowingly authorized the other person to log in to their account.
If you receive a message like this, take these three simple steps first:
1. Open the Binance app or official website yourself and look for the promotion with the same name. Don’t follow links sent in private messages.
2. Use Binance Verify to check the full URL, email address, or social media account. Don’t trust a profile picture or display name alone.
3. Never send verification codes, passwords, or screenshots of your assets to someone in a private message. Don’t scan a QR code to log in or enable remote access at their request.
Pay close attention to the confirmation page. What they call “claiming a reward” may actually mean giving them access to your account. Even after verifying the source, review each authorization separately.
