How should you interpret the overall account long/short ratio? It’s more useful to look at the overall account figures alongside large traders’ positions: when they point in different directions, it often means large traders and most accounts are betting differently.
A long-biased ratio doesn’t mean the price is about to rise, and a reading below 1 doesn’t necessarily mean it’s about to fall. It reflects how positions are distributed, not a price forecast.
Indicators can fail, so don’t skip the stop-loss: thinking in advance about what you’ll do if your judgment is wrong matters more than whether your prediction is right.
