According to Wallstreetcn, 15 Google DeepMind employees and alumni met for breakfast in central London in September and quickly turned to how to finance an artificial intelligence startup and which types of ventures well-funded Silicon Valley investors currently favor. Several DeepMind alumni, including Nando de Freitas and David Silva, have founded their own companies and are seeking funding from investors, with some projects targeting hundreds of millions of dollars. As DeepMind loses staff, the company is shifting the center of power for its AI division from London to California, and some former employees said being forced to focus on large language models was one reason they left.
