Why do many people who trade still end up losing? In the end, it’s not just that their skills aren’t good—it’s that they don’t really know what they’re actually making money from.

Last year, at 2 a.m., it was my seventh liquidation. Sitting in front of my computer, I felt completely numb. At the time, someone who had been trading for many years gave me a framework. I studied it and followed it for half a year. From 3,000 U, I grew it to 287,000 U. Looking back, what truly changed me wasn’t some magical indicator—it was learning how to find information, find opportunities, and more importantly, knowing when not to move.

Step one is to stop the bleeding. A lot of people aren’t incapable of placing trades—they’re just too eager, always thinking they can flip things around with high leverage. Back then, I split my 3,000 U into several parts. Most went into mainstream assets, some was used for relatively lower-risk arbitrage, and the rest was kept as a reserve, just to make sure I wouldn’t get wiped out immediately because of one or two wrong judgments. $MUBARAK

Step two is to look for opportunities. I focus on the price spread between different platforms, the funding rate, and short-term volatility. Only when the conditions are right do I consider hedging—not when I see a small spread and rush in. The core of this approach isn’t that you have to make money every day, but rather to reduce the risk caused by one-sided market moves as much as possible.

Step three, after the account grows, is to research newer coins with higher volatility. The opportunities might be bigger there, but the risks are also obvious. So I wouldn’t assume that because I made money earlier, I can do anything later.

Going from 3,000 U to 287,000 U sounds unbelievable, but what really helped me turn things around wasn’t any supposed insider information. It was learning how to leverage informational differences—and also understanding when I should act and when I should wait.

In the end, trading isn’t about who has the biggest nerve. It’s about who can execute the rules all the way through.
